On Graphic Materialities
I’m a British-Colombian designer and researcher exploring the performative and material aspects of communication design, considering materiality as a mediator of cultural narratives. I focus on medium and translation, exploring editorial and curatorial interventions through endangered physical publication formats, including recipe books, phrasebooks, albums, maps, encyclopaedias, and more.
By engaging with these formats, my aim is to facilitate knowledge exchange through the interpretation of existing graphic materialities and the creation of new ones, with a particular focus on sustainability. Graphic Communication Design serves as a research tool for exploring cultural narratives surrounding sustainability, examining the designer's agency within the production process, and seeking innovative ways to create common spaces for dialogue.
